Vigoz - VI"GO"Z (Album Intro)

This film was made to mark the release of Vigoz Chen’s new album, and rather than attach it to any single track we treated it as an introduction to the record as a whole, a piece of world building that gives the album somewhere to exist before anybody has heard a note of it. The brief was to set a tone rather than to tell a story, so the film leans on scale, texture and the silences between the music instead of on any kind of narrative.

We shot it across a run of stark industrial locations in central Taiwan, working through concrete yards, empty structures and the sort of half abandoned infrastructure that the country has a great deal of if you know where to look for it. Each location was picked because it gave the frame a weight that a studio build would never have matched, and moving between sites in a single stretch meant chasing the light from one setup to the next and letting the character of each place decide how Vigoz was blocked inside it, which is why the film reads as a series of environments as much as a series of shots.
